Profile
United Kingdom / All / High Tech Glasshouse / Fresh Market
Malling™ Centenary is a June-bearing strawberry variety with very good fruit quality and lower harvest cost potential, compared to the industry standard varieties. It produces firm and attractive berries with consistent conical regular shape, sweet flavor, good skin and flesh firmness, and good shelf life. Fruit size is large, with 60-65% of berries produced being >35mm. This trait, combined with its upright plant habit, good fruit display and high % of Class 1, allows for rapid harvesting (of up to 40 kg/ hr) and reduced picking costs. Malling™ Centenary produces good plants suitable for glasshouse double cropping and protected outdoor production.

Agronomic Tips
- The plant densities can vary based on the production system employed: in glasshouse production the densities range from 12-14 plants per linear meter. In tunneled table-top production, the densities typically range from 8-10 plants per linear meter. • While generally not a major concern, it’s important to monitor for powdery mildew, as this disease can occasionally become problematic depending on the season.
